Privacy policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains how Riverbyte Ltd ("we") handles information in our apps, including Hoppa Maths, and on this website. The short version: we don't collect personal data from you or your children.
Who we are
Riverbyte Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17512540, registered office: 3 Old English Close, Harston, Cambridge, CB22 7AN, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@riverbyte.co.uk.
What our apps collect
Nothing that leaves your family's devices. Our apps:
- don't ask for a child's real name, photo, birthday, email or location. Children choose a drawn avatar and a nickname;
- don't use the camera, microphone, contacts or photos;
- don't show ads and don't use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools;
- don't send any information to Riverbyte's servers. We don't run any.
Where progress is stored
A child's profile and learning progress are stored on the device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are also stored in your own private iCloud account so they appear on your other devices. That data is held by Apple under your iCloud account, and Riverbyte cannot see or access it.
Purchases
Purchases, including free trials, unlocks and add-ons, are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your name or payment details. Apple only tells the app whether a purchase is active on your Apple Account.
Because purchases are linked to your Apple Account rather than to a device, you can delete and reinstall the app, or install it on another device signed in to the same Apple Account, and your purchases come back without paying again. If they don't appear straight away, use Restore Purchases in the parent area.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash and performance reports. These don't identify you or your child. You can turn this off in your device's Privacy settings.
Children
Our apps are made for children and follow Apple's Kids category rules. Purchases, settings, reports and links out of the app are behind a parental gate. Because we don't collect personal data from children, there is no personal data for us to share, sell or use for advertising.
Contacting us
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we delete support emails once they're resolved and no longer needed.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which may briefly process technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
Deleting data
You can delete a child's profile and all their progress at any time from the parent area of the app. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device; if iCloud sync was on, the synced copy stays in your iCloud account until you delete it from the app or from your iCloud settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your purchase.
If we stop offering an app
If we ever stop selling an app, nothing you've stored is affected, because we never held it. Your child's progress stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and the app keeps working offline on devices where it is already installed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including the right to ask what we hold about you. In practice we hold no personal data from our apps, but if you have any questions or concerns, email us at hello@riverbyte.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If an app ever starts handling data differently, we'll update this policy before that version is released.
